Pictures

I also plan to use this to display pictures of student work, field trips, and special events to parents. If you do not want your child pictured please let me know. I will use first names but NEVER last names, for safety and security reasons. Please check in not only to see what the homework is but also to view pictures of student work and activities :)

Below you will see several Oregon Heart projects I would like to honor:

The Weekend Is Here

I had several students ask if they have to do homework over the weekend... the answer is no. They can use their whole weekend to run, play, and be with family!

As a reminder starting Monday they will need to read 20min per evening. I am ok with them doing more or less per night as long as their week total is 80 minutes. So, if there is a soccer game or family event one evening they can read more the day before/after and not do any reading the night of the event.

It was wonderful meeting so many of you last night! I look forward to more interactions as the year goes on!

Heads-up:
Beginning next week (Monday, September 27th), as a part of homework, students will be required to read at least 20 minutes a night (M,T,W,Th= 80min). When assigned they will need to do a Reader's Response as well. A Reader's Response is at least 5 sentences, 4th grade quality, telling about their reading- this can be a summary, connection, or prediction.

Due Wednesday 9/22
Oregon reading packet and section review questions. Review questions must be in complete sentences!! Please complete review questions on a piece of notebook paper to be turned in.

Also ask your child what they have learned so far about Oregon (which states border OR- use their hands and point, which rivers are state boundaries, how big OR is, name two mountain ranges)

Have a Great night!

Welcome to the blog of Room 144

Hello Parents and Students of Room 144!!
As I've thought about how to communicate quickly and effectively I have come to conclude that this will be the most straight forward and efficient way to do so. Please look to this web blog for quick updates about homework, field trips, class projects and much more! There is a school (PTA) sustained web page for our class, which I may at times use. If I do I will reference it here in this blog and provide a link.
